Carter low emission diesel locomotive engines add new type C32

Caterpillar has released another low emission diesel locomotive engine, it blended in caterpillar mature ACERT technology. The new C32 is a 32 l (1959 cubic inches) 12 cylinder four stroke engine, its turbocharged after cooled diesel engine rotating speed is 1800-2100 RPM, BKW power for 708-708 BHP (950-950).

It fits EUStageII emissions standards, has won the United States EPATier2 (40 cfrpart92) certificate of off-highway applications.

Caterpillar ChuckWills railway marketing manager said: "the C32 greatly expanded the scope of our power of locomotive engine, more than the same successful C27ACERT, for many fields of application Cat ® 3508 series now, it will be a very ideal upgrade products comply with emissions regulations. It not only retains the caterpillar of the traditional characteristics of durability and reliability, and its use of lighter, cleaner, stronger assembly improved fuel efficiency. We are committed to the global rail system provides a complete set of engine, to meet the worldwide implementation of more stringent emission standards, at the same time will not degrade the performance of the locomotive engine and work efficiency."

New C32ACERT joined C175ACERT engine, horizontal C18ACERT C27ACERT engine and the railway transportation, with a new family of engines. They adopted the advanced
emissions technology, is expected to eventually replace caterpillar mature type 3400 and type 3500 and type 3500 diesel engine. All of these new engines adopting
caterpillar ACERT technology, realize the engine low emissions, optimize the fuel economy, reduced operating costs.

Wills also said: "the C32 is another achievement of our continuous efforts. It applies ACERT technology advantages to this new field of railway transportation. This engine weighs 2.435 tons (5368 pounds), with 3508 b power is almost the same, but the weight is lighter than it. Over the past few years, portable high power engine, made possible by the ACERT technology has been tested on 400000 caterpillar engine and recognition, the technology also can be applied to cost about $1007 now BKW (1350 horsepower), power of railway transportation.

ACERT technology is a caterpillar on cleaner, more efficient engine of global demand, make a positive response. This demand is also reflected in the implementation effect in North America, Europe and other places around the world increasingly strict rules. To advanced electronics and first-class system components (including with titanium efficient turbocharger compressor impeller, high strength shell and shell) containing water cooling device, can control the combustion process. ACERT technology is based on the complex control process.

ACERT technology with the application of three interconnected system, the control of air and fuel delivery and combustion engine. These systems are:
Air systemIf not stable supply of clean air, the combustion is not complete, emissions will increase. ACERT technology USES advanced air control technology solved the problem.

These control technologies including cross-flow cylinder cover and equipped with four valves per cylinder, the valve can be cleaner air transport into the cylinder, can make the air evenly spread.

The fuel system

For reducing emissions, fuel flow control is more important than air traffic control, and more difficult. ACERT engine technology is adopted in the before and after several times with a small amount of injection, main injection emissions in order to achieve the best effect. To reach the effect you need leading fuel injector technology, thus C32 series is equipped with electronic fuel injector. It provides a variety of injection and injection rate adjustment precision, can improve the combustion rate, and can better control of noise and vibration and the noise of the noise.

Electronic device

If there is no modern electronic monitoring system, all these improvements are not possible. ADEM in C32 engine ™ A4 engine control module has a faster processor, is the feature of equipment used in the storage rail services than ever before, and provide enough computing power to integrate the engine and other major components, thus become the optimization of control system.

Wills continued: "the main engine behind ACERT technology is in line with the more strict discharge standard has become a requirement. Undoubtedly, these standards will implement on a global scale in the subsequent years. But the caterpillar challenges for this commitment, the engine will both meet emissions standards without sacrificing reliability and durability of the engine, but also can provide a more perfect operational economy and lower life cycle cost.
